Just picked up a pair of these: http://www.merrell.com/US/en-US/Product.mvc.aspx/22875M/50390/Mens/Barefoot-Trail-Glove
I'm LOVING them so far. Need to put in some distance soon and see how that goes, but so far so good and they are really helping me keep my form in tact.
If anyone is interested, here is a discount link to where I got them at: http://www.runningwarehouse.com/discount.html?pcode=midwestd
I bought the Faas 3-4 months ago. Great for running or anything jumping (box jumps, double unders, etc.) Not so good for overheads squats or anything very heavy that requires heel stability and balance. So between these and my chucks, I'm pretty much set for any workout. Unless of course the workout is running and overheads squats, at which point the decision in footwear causes such great mental stress that I need to stay home. So technically I'm still covered.
I will be completely honest and say I got these because they are the brightest shoes I have ever seen--I wasn't into obnoxious colors until I started going to CFC...
I plan on using them for shorter runs and some workouts with running in them, but I still think the Inov-8s are the best for workouts that have a combo of running/jumping and a lift.
I bought the trail gloves as well black and red...need to get some road work in.
My back is still messed up from the WOD 2 I did sunday. First round of dead lifts did all 9 and instead of dropping the weight i relaxed my core to lower the weight which pulled on my lower back. needless to say the adreline was high so i got through the work out but am still paying for it. Trying to get in some hot yoga tonight and hope to be back into cf tomorrow.
Keep em coming! I like all of this shoe talk. Thanks for the feedback. Anthony I almost went with those bright new kicks you have but decided to try something new.
Erin - love the pumas!! very nice! I just bought these: http://store.nike.com/us/en_us/#l=shop,pdp,ctr-inline/cid-1/pid-380568/pgid-361356
After going through two rounds of the nike free 3.0 and absolutely loving them, I was looking into buying them again. But like Anthony, I was ready for a more vibrant color! ha. I settled on these because the reviews were good.
I plan to use them for running and metcons. They are light and really comfy!
Yay for new shoes. It's only right I share my favorite video about shoes:
Erin, I just bought the silver and pink ones like yours. A friend recommended them. And Puma has a 30 day tryout offer with the shoes. Nice! I will be sporting them tonight.
Suz, funny video. These shoes rule. These shoes suck. Haha!
I've recently picked up a pair of Puma Faas 300, similar to the one DryWall rocks, and a pair of Inov-8 195s, like GlennC, has. All in all, I like the Pumas for running and 195s for most CrossFit activities.
Timely post and sorry to miss this one last night -- I have been running in Brooks Green Silence. They are actually 'green' in both color and concept (made w/ eco friendly materials). I highly recommend these for shorter runs.
How come everyone's got new shoes but me? I'm still rocking my 4 year old Asics Kayanos. They're awesome. There's like 2 inches of squishy foam and gel and control my pronation.

ReplyDeleteSo glad to see shoe companies putting out minimalist gear for those who run with proper mechanics.
