  1. Still not raining! Although it did rain on Saturday.

  2. Dang, it's raining hard today. Bummer. We still outside??

  3. Raining / sleeting right now; are we still running outdoors? It's 32 degrees out.

  4. Crap! SNOWSTORM!!! Will we still be running outside today? I may have to run ion my UGHs. Ugh.

    ReplyDelete
  5. Just did a few drills outside in short shorts in prep for tomorrow. IT WAS COLD AS SHIT. We still outside tomorrow?? UGH.

  6. Question: Are we still going to be outside today? It's not raining yet, true, however there's thunder-snow going down a bit later. I brought my super skinny sweatpants and ear warmers just in case.

  7. Hmm. I know that it says that it's still not raining, however it just started this like, frozen rain sort of sleet/hail thing outside. Think we're still going to do drills out there? If we're in the parking garage, cool. Straight up outside is a bit much even with my skinny sweatpants and mittens, though.

  8. Man, I am SO GLAD that we're outside today! It's super warm and sunny! Wait, is that Adam C.? Adam, you're an endurance coach? Hmm.

  9. Wow. From 80 last week to 36 this week. Just wondering if we're still going to be outside today. I know there's not going to be any rain, but thought I'd check in so that I know ahead of time to wear my short shorts or my skinny sweatpants. I guess I can always add SKINS so I'm not overly concerned.

  10. I really hope we're still outside today. It's nice and cool and I brought my new LuLu short shorts. I wanna try out these new bootie socks, too. Can someone confirm? I don't think it's going to rain. Will everyone in the photo be coming? I hope so because I only ever met a few of you.

  11. Man, it's raining cats and dogs today; are we still outside? I have my rainbow umbrella hat, but it's fitting a little loose since I got my haircut.

  12. I'm psyched to run outside today. I have these new kicks that I am looking forward to breaking in. I also have these new bootie socks with the little pom on the back. I hope the poms also give 100% effort, as I sure plan on it. Also, I don't think that there's any chance of rain today, so this post is a little silly.

  13. Wanted to get this in before the rain, so I cruised my Asics Gels and got after it. Seems like it's the same WOD every day here for the past little bit. I like that the guy in the picture is wearing a Cubs shirt. He must be at the games all the time as I have yet to meet him.

  14. The snow from that massive storm a few days ago is finally melting away, so I gave this WOD another go. It went pretty shitty. Like, literally. The sidewalks were covered in dog shit from when folks let their pups poop into the snow and not pick it up. Well, what happens when the snow melts? All the crap reveals itself. Terry, I notice that in the photo above you're wearing 5 Fingers, the same shoes I was wearing today during this killer WOD. Have you had any success in washing them? I read that you can put them in the dishwasher, but since they are covered in dog-do I feel a little weird about putting them where I put my plates and stuff. I guess I can run a load with just them and my baseball hats (I have those awesome hat racks). Hmm, but do I add washing machine detergent or dishwasher soap? I'll Google it. I should have worn my Asic Gels, but I like to alternate between the Gels and 5 Fingers in order to keep my running constantly varied. Speaking of, Coach Adam, I've been practicing that reverse side-wall hip-drill that you're demonstrating above. It's been working wonders for my gait! Thank You!

  15. Man, okay, so I just got my custom orthopedics back from the podiatrist today and I am psyched to get this WOD in. I tried them out in her office and they are AWESOME. They are custom molded to fit my foot. No more arch slouching for me anymore! They slid right into my Sketchers Shape-Ups, so they should also fit my Asics Gels like a glove. The only thing she told me was that they won't work with my Vibrams (which is a huge bummer). Anyone ever get custom orthopedics for their 5 Fingers? I have an email into Injinji and will let yall know what they say.

    ReplyDelete
  16. Alright, I heard back from the idiots at Injinji who basically laughed at me. They said that their inserts (to be read, socks) "are to be worn in lieu of orthopedics," and that I am "clearly missing the point of our footwear". Really, Injinji?? Maybe you're a little slow on the uptake, but there's this thing called CrossFit and an idea of constantly varied running styles. Also, I've run through dogshit in my Asics Gels and my Five Fingers with your socks, and I'm here to tell you that your "footwear" sucks at dealing with piles of crap. It's like stepping on an over ripe banana.

  17. It's really nice outside today and I can basically say for a fact that it's not going to rain (I went to Tom Skilling's Twitter). Anyway, I was looking in the CFC shop and noticed that the neon green and red Nano's are in stock in my size (5.5 men's, so hard to find). Thinking about spending the $140 on them, but was looking for tips from current wearers; are they only for Olympic Lifting or can I use them for Power Lifting and intense endurance WODs like this one, too? Thanks in advance.

  18. Got after this tenacious endurance WOD this afternoon, and although it definitely didn't rain, holy smokes was it windy. Luckily I had my Zoot windbreaker vest and my brand new for this season Pearl Izumi running tights to help me cut through the wind. I was bummed I forgot my skull cap back at the Box. Anyways, any word on those killer Nanos? Carlo, you have the highest knee pull of all of us, so I'm kinda looking to you on this one.

  19. Took out this brutal WOD today and I can tell you straight away that I was super psyched that I splurged on picking up a tinted version of Sports Spex last weekend. Did anyone else get this one in today? It was SO bright out. I needed the extra UV protection so that I could really focus on the pavement; I was trying the high-heel-tiptoe method that Brett R is demonstrating above. Man, I can tell you it's killer on the calf muscles! Bring on the foam roller and ice bath, stat!

  20. Took this WOD to task this morning and I gotta say, it was rough. Partly due to still breaking in my orthopedic inserts in my Asics Gels, and partly due to my constantly varied heart rate. I realized that a heart rate monitor is a MUST. I was looking at Sport Line brand monitors. They are the most expensive and therefore the best. The Polar F20 also seems good, but I think I need the chest thing AND the watch. Anyone know if there's one with GPS included? Would be good for long WODs. No one in the photo seems to be wearing any so I guess I'll just Google it. Thanks anyways.

  21. Pulled myself out of bed early this morning to take on this intense WOD. Drove over to the Box hoping to find a few of you like minded CrossFitters looking to get in this endurance WOD before taking on 14.2 for the fourth time this week. Figured spiking my heart rate would help my CTB pull ups after work tonight, and therefore making be Better Than Yesterday, but alas, it was a solo show. Kinda bummed that I only brought my Nano Turbos, as I found myself treading water in one giant puddle from all the melting snow. Can I toss them in the washing machine? Last time I did this I wrecked my Nike+ chip. Obviously I have a fitbit now which I won't put through the wash cycle. I'm not dumb after all.

  22. Man, this is the winter that just won't quit! That said, this CrossFit Endurance FireBreather won't quit, either. Battled this nasty WOD tonight in the 15 degrees Mother Nature tossed at me. SO glad that my Rogue Mechanix Vented Gloves were in my Datsusara Light Gear Bag I scored from WODSuperstore.com (I packed them for 14.4). I know they're for kipping pull-ups, but they are versatile and can be worn for running in cold weather as well. In fact, I've also used them at the cages perfecting my 16" softball swing, and at the driving range, too. Not that I golf, but I do subscribe to this elite idea of always trying new sports. Plus I had the gloves, so. I will say I could probably use a lesson; my rotator cuff is all jacked up now. Ice pack and gauze time! You know, like a pitcher would assemble after a perfect game.

  23. Thinking of hitting this WOD on my lunch break. Question is, will any coaches be there? I ask because I came across one of those green CrossFit Endurance coach's shirts at a thrift store last night. I picked it up for one dollar even though it fits me like a maternity shirt. Seriously, I look like Chief Keef in this thing. Not sure I can run it it, as I'm currently swimming in it. Bryce, I'm thinking that this one was most likely yours. Are you still an Endurance coach? Plus, if I wear it to any CFCE WODS, folks might ask me to coach them. I'll toss it in my bag JIC I sweat through my Jason Khalipa Rogue tee.

  24. After getting this painful WOD in last night and NARROWLY being clipped by the #72 North Ave bus, I'm looking into night running visibility solutions. Anyone have any ideas? Erin C, I noticed that you have the fancy reflector fabric on your sneakers in the photo even though it's daytime, so I'm guessing you are probably conscience of safety precautions. I decided to invest in the Noxgear Tracer360 Visibility Vest. I bought it on Amazon. Figured it was worth it since I signed up for that brutal FireFly 5K yesterday. Anyone know what size batteries this thing takes? I'm guessing AAA, but hoping they're the little watch battery discs. DM me, please.

  25. Got this CFCE WOD in last night. Unfortunately, the last person at the Box locked up and left before I was finished with all my stuff still inside, including my keys. Luckily, I had enough left in me to get in the necessary LSD for me to run the 4.5 miles back home. I then had to wake my neighbor and have her call a locksmith (my cell phone was in my bag). About two hours later the locksmith arrived, let me in and left with a check for $285. It got me thinking: I need a system for running with my keys. That said, I picked up a Key Smart key organizer and an arm band with a pocket. I noticed that no one in the photo is wearing one (nor do any of you seem to have keys) so I'll give it a go and let you all know how this system works out.

  26. That was a hullava WOD. Hammered this one late this morning. I channeled my inner Froning and went super hard on this one. That guy is the CHAMP! There are so few athletes that can claim they won FOUR championships in their sports... Froning must have been channeling his inner Michale Jordan, the True Champ! Not only did I push myself to the limit today, I also pushed my new Oakleys to the limit! Went ahead and picked up the same ones Rich wears when he's crushing the competition and killing Games WODs. When the suns out, the guns are out, but you gotta protect your eyes, and Rich and I do it in style. Plus, I'm pretty sure I PR'ed the second 400 because of them (they are more aerodynamic than they look).

  27. Hammered away at this one today. Thought it went exceedingly well, and I'd be a fool not to credit my new Team Beachbody membership. Brett R, are you a member? I ask because you look like all the guys on the Beachbody videos (which are amazing). I ask because I was hoping you could give me some recommendations on the fitness tools they offer. Obviously I already bought the workout sheets and nutrition tracker app, but what about the Target Heart Rate mechanism? It's a little pricy so I was hoping you might have used it. I'll probably make the investment as it seems pretty vital to the system. Let's compare notes once I've given it some hardcore use.

  28. So it's basically pitch black dark outside at like, 3PM these days, so I decided to pick up a set of Nathan LightSpurs for crushing these Endurance WODs in the evenings. I couldn't recommend these enough. For those unfamiliar, they're these like, horseshoe shaped plastic pieces that slide onto the heel of your shoe (they work on Nanos perfectly), and they light up so folks can see you blazing through 400M sprints at night. Brilliant! I actually have an email in to Reebok to see if they can build this type of lighting system into a line of CrossFit Endurance shoes I've been working on. Obviously I'd want them to use Vibram bottoms, so my guess is that's going to the sticking point in getting these into production, but I'll let you guys know how it goes.

  29. Hmm, does anyone have a personal contact for Uli Becker? I keep getting his out of office/on vacation autoreply. I guess I can always hit send again and copy Rich Froning. I want to leave Brian MacKenzie out of it for now as I don't want him to steal my idea and read about it later in some TJ Murphy penned article. DM me.

  30. Pro Tip: stop what you're doing right now and go out and purchase the CrossFit Nano Pump Fusion shoes (you can get them at Dick's). They're only $150. I literally DESTROYED this monster of a WOD today in these and looked good doing it in these futuristic kicks. This idea of a Pump system is not only world class, but so forward thinking. If you're buying these online, I also highly recommend hitting up Kill Cliff. Since I'm sure you don't know what that is, it's this incredible recovery drink. Think of this, their (accurate) motto is "Recover Today. Crush It Tomorrow. Premium Recovery Drink." Well, since I plan on crushing it tomorrow, I obviously got into this stuff right away. It kinda tastes like Sparks or 4 Loko, to give you an idea. Welcome to the future!

  31. While adhering to the elite idea of constantly varied running styles, I tackled this killer WOD this morning in my new Hoka One One Tor Summit WP's. The ride is a lot like my Sketcher Shape Ups, so needless to say, they were super comfortable and my orthotics slipped right in. It was like running with marshmallows on my feet, so I'll clearly highly recommend. I think I saw Jason Khalipa rocking these in the 2014 CrossFit Games practice WODs, so it should go without saying that these have been properly vetted out.

  32. Killed this WOD tonight, and I think that the general public knew it, too. Why, you ask? Perhaps it was because it looked like I was conducting SWAT drills. My brand new Rogue MIR weighted vest arrived today, and I couldn't wait to bust it out on the mean streets of Chicago during this endurance WOD. It's all black and the little pockets that hold the weights look like ammo compartments, like a Navy SEAL would have. Give credit to those guys, these vests really slow you down. Even though I had 15 pounds of pure, gravity defying weights loaded in mine, and they have like, pepper spray or whatever in theirs, I still respect those guys.

  33. Quick question, how many of you have the CrossFit life insurance? Here's a link in case you aren't already signed up: https://www.healthiq.com/affinity/crossfit

I went in on this as soon as I heard about it. Just wondering if any of you like minded fire-breathers are already enrolled. It was explained to me that it's like Obama Care for CrossFitters. DM me if you want to compare notes. The only thing is that to prove you're a CrossFitter, you have to show at least 10 CF tee-shirts, your Nanos and some of that flexible tape.

  34. Went ahead and ordered the Reebok CrossFit Pro Shorts. They have the signatures of Chris Spealler and Matt Chan right there where the tag normally goes, so they're certified as being elite. I know you sometimes have to pay extra for names like Chanel, Vercace or Burberry, but these are definitely worth the $150. Plus, Reebok. Gonna tackle this insane WOD with these shorts and will circle back. I tried them on and did a bunch of air squats and already know they are gonna slay CFE WODS..

  35. So, I'm back.. After dabbling with Bar Method and Orange Theory for a few months, I'm ready to get back to this brutal Endurance WOD. I only strayed because it seems like it's always the same WOD here at CFCE, but maybe I'm being short sighted. Plus, I scored the new Reebok Kamikaze II's, which are perfect for this one. I can wear them casually, then "pump it up" when it comes to these sprints. I just hope they don't get dirty; the Chicago sidewalks near the industrial park CFC is located in have a bunch of litter.

  36. Man, do you want to hear about perfect timing? I just got my brand new WHOOP Strap in the mail this week. Why is it perfect timing? Well have you heard of the Insane Clown Posse? Well have you heard of the Juggalo march? Yeah, so that. Plus, I picked up the Hyrroband, so.. I even sprung for the Travel Puck and Battery Pack, so yeah, I'm equipped. The best part is that the WHOOP itself is only $500. Even with the add-ons it was less than $700, and that includes the WHOOP T-Shirt, which was only $30. Not bad even though it's a bit ill fitting.

  38. Game-Changer alert!! So have you guys heard of FitVine? It's this new wine designed for elite athletes. Think of this, their slogan is, "We crush grapes, you crush life". Plus, their labels all have this silhouette of a guy running / working out with a glass of wine. Just look at what they say on their internet web-page:

    Drink Clean.

No additives, less sugar, fewer calories, carbs and sulfites than typical wines.

Not only that, they are the official wine of the Boston Red Sox, so.. Needless to say, I'm all in. I ordered a bunch of cases of this magic nectar and will post my review directly to their web-based portal. Forget Mic Ultra, FitVine is the new Gatorade!
